Next week we are going to Disney. (YEAH!!!) Normally when we leave town we either bring Floyd with us or, if we can't he stays with Mandy. However, this time, Mandy will be with us so we were looking at boarding him for a week. The price for boarding at either Dogtopia or Camp Bow Wow is astronomical. I looked into boarding him at our vet which is considerably cheaper but I couldn't bear the thought of my little snuggle bug being left along in a cold run for a week. Oh, I could pay them to take him on walks, play time or sofa time but by the time I added that in, I may as well have brought him to Dogtopia! I was discussing this with our friends Debra and Buddy who mentioned they may be willing to take Floyd. Hooray!!!
Floyd is a very good boy but he does better the second time he meets people so we planned an in-home meeting. Originally I was supposed to bring him over on Tuesday but I completely forgot until I was putting the girls to bed that night! You know that sinking feeling you get when you realize you've completely dropped the ball on something.... UGH! I hate that! Well, I had to eat crow and apologize for completely blowing Debra and Buddy off. Fortunately, they are good sports and forgave me. We rescheduled for today. I even set a reminder on my iCal so I was sure not to forget. (Sometimes, technology is my friend.)
We arrived around 4:30 and Floyd spent some time sniffing around, getting the layout of the house, well, at least part of the first floor. After a few minutes, he started to warm up to Debra and a few minutes later, to Buddy as well. Here he is giving him a "snarfle" as we call it. Buddy must be something special because Floyd usually takes several days to warm up to a new man. We are so grateful to have friends willing to take our little guy. Not only does it save us a load of money, I know he will be well loved, petted and taken care of.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
