This is how I started my day, with three lovely ladies working on Fun Run posters. We met at Kerri's sister-in-law's day care down in Apex and had a good old time drawing and coloring jungle animals. Every grade has it's own animal. Kindergarten Tree Frogs, 1st Grade Tarantulas, 2nd Grade Tucans, 3rd Grade Iguanas, 4th Grade Monkeys and 5th Grade Tigers. Boosterthon's theme this year is EPIC Adventure where the hero goes into the jungle and learns the importance of teamwork. How very fitting, since it really did take all of us working together to get these done. I will not be able to help them decorate the school with them next weekend but I know it'll be awesome when it's done.
Later, I took Floyd for a walk. I brought my camera just in case something caught my eye. Lo and behold, the sun caught the oak leaves on the grass in a way that made them almost translucent. I took this picture but was not satisfied with it. I repositioned myself slightly to get the shot I wanted. Just as I was going to take the picture...
the wind picked up and blew my subject away, literally. However, I did mange to get a shot of it being blown away which was bitter sweet. I missed the shot I was looking for but I decided, after looking at it, I kind of liked the contrast between the sharpness of the grass and the blurry leaf.
I am nothing if not persistent though and I made poor Floyd shiver for a few more seconds in the cold as I got the shot I was originally looking for. Not my best. I was in a hurry and Floyd was pulling on his leash. I'd like to remove that grass in the forefront. I know I could photo shop it but I am a bit of a purist when it comes to my pics. I'll alter the colors, highlights and shadows, crop and straighten but somehow altering the content like that seems like cheating to me. The perfect picture continues to elude me so I will keep shooting!
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
