We all went to visit the Williams' today to exchange Christmas presents for the kids and just hang out for a while. Jack is very interested in Thomas these days so we gave him a RR crossing with lights and sounds and working gates. He loved it and set up a little track on the kitchen table. He and Stu were driving their trains around the track in opposite directions and had a fantastic crash. Here they are celebrating that amazing accomplishment.
For Christmas, I gave KC a waffle maker. Now, that may sound lame but it's actually pretty cool. A few years ago, when Delaney had Fri night practice, we started going out to eat afterward every Fri night. Even after Delaney no longer had Fri night practice, we continued the tradition because it was fun. Last January, when KC's company closed, we had to start trimming our budget and that was an obvious place to start. The girls enjoyed our Fri night dinners and we knew they would miss them so we decided to do something fun to make up for it. We landed on breakfast for dinner on Friday nights instead. The girls, and quite frankly, KC and I, liked it so much we decided we'd prefer that to eating out anyway! We have been doing eggs, bacon and pancakes mostly since our waffle iron was no longer non-stick even when we sprayed it with Pam. The waffles stuck to the inside of the iron to the point that they were constantly pulling apart. Alas, we had to abandon waffles as a breakfast for dinner option. Therefore, when I was thinking about a good Christmas present for KC this fall, I decided to look into waffle irons. I did some research and found the Waring was highly regarded and not terribly expensive. I've become very savvy to KC's wily ways of figuring out what I am getting him for Christmas so to avoid him seeing it on our Amazon account, I had Mandy order it for us and I went to the ATM and got out cash with which to pay her so he couldn't even figure out how much I spent. I was successful, or at least he is doing a good job of acting surprised if I wasn't.
Now, I know in the title, it says Saturday night. We had to make a slight adjustment since recently Macy has started with Friday night practice. We didn't want to give up our little ritual so we just moved it to Saturday. No one can ever claim we don't roll with it here! Bobbing and weaving as Brian Fox used to say.
As with any new piece of equipment, it takes a few tries to get it just right. We had a slight overflow on the first one but it turned out golden brown and perfectly crispy just as it should. We have a winner!!!!
You may be wondering where Macy is throughout all the cooking. Well, KC likes to have music playing while he is in the kitchen. Katy Perry came on and Macy just couldn't help herself. While her sister and father were in the kitchen making dinner, Macy was over near the back door dancing her little heart out. To anyone who knows Macy, of course, this is no shock but it's still funny to watch and great to photograph.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
