I am not a Valentine's Day kind of person. KC and I don't even give each other cards. I buy the cheapest pack of cards I can find for the girls to bring to school and I adamantly refuse to send in any candy, pencils, goodie bags etc. with them. I never wear read or pink and I am generally in a foul mood all day. In my opinion it is a "Hallmark Holiday" promoted by the greeting card and floral industry to boost mid winter sales. I loathe being manipulated so it's quiet telling that I am making this my lead pic for the day.
Macy, like most other first grade kids, was very excited about Valentine's Day. She even got up on her own this morning while I was still in the shower. Normally, I have to go physically lift her out of bed and rock her until she is awake enough to function on her own: a 3-5 minute process.
Her favorite cereal is Special K Red Berries, which she calls "Strawberry Flakes." As she was eating her breakfast, she found this and pulled it out to save. It is a heart shaped dried strawberry slice. How very apropos! She was so excited about it and it's so coincidental, I had to post it.
Today it was very windy. The day started off very overcast and cold. By midday the clouds were beginning to break up and it was getting warmer but the wind was still very strong. As I was going in to see one of my older patients at his school, I noticed the flags billowing in the breeze. The sky was still slightly unattractive and gloomy behind them however so I delayed the shoot until after the treatment in hopes that the sky would be more amenable to photographing. As it turns out, that was a good call. When I came out to my car, there were fluffy white clouds in a brilliant blue sky behind the still fluttering flags. I snapped several pics and I really liked the way this one captured the movement esp in the NC flag. I did a little cropping and a slight adjustment but that's it. This definitely goes down as one of my favorite blog pics thus far.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
