This morning, before I even had a chance to get out of my pajamas, the K girls were here. It was a cold and rainy day so they were inside all day. They stayed upstairs playing "bank" for the entire day. Remarkably, there was no fighting or crying at all! I did an hour on the elliptical without an interruption even! It got to be almost 2:00 before I heard anything from them and that was a request for lunch. Ooops! I kind of forgot that part! The good thing is they are old enough to ask for food when they get hungary. As I had forgotten to buy more mac'n'cheese the last time I went to BJ's I was left with few options.
Cold, nasty days always scream for grilled cheese and soup to me so I suggested that. Again to my surprise, all four girls agreed immediately. I got out the bread, butter and cheese and a can of soup. I heated the pan and assembled the sandwiches. I flipped them just in time. They were a nice golden brown color. Everything was perfect. I ladled out the soup so each girl had a 1/2 sandwich and a bowl of soup. They all sat down to eat so I started to make my own sandwich; muenster cheese, ham and roasted bell peppers. Of course as soon as I put it on the pan, the girls all decide that they all need another 1/2 a sandwich. I hastily threw two more sandwiches together while attempting to monitor my own yummy sandwich.
As you probably have already guessed, in the mad rush to keep four girls happily fed, I forgot all about my own lunch. Fortunately, I did get to it before it was charcoal but it was well past the golden brown perfection for which I was yearning. The things we mother's do for the kids in our lives.
One last happy moment for the day. The girls have been waiting for weeks to see the third "Pirates of the Caribean" movie. KC rented it for them to watch this evening. We started the movie when the K's left, paused to make dinner: waffles and applewood smoked bacon. Then the girls got ready for bed and we started it back up. The girls are all cuddled up on the sofa in front of the fire with their Daddy. Sweetness.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
