I really liked the way the rain drops from last night's storm were hanging on to the ends of the pine needles. I composed the shot but because the needles are so thin, I actually had to manually focus this one; something I hadn't done with this camera yet. After I snapped a picture, I looked at the screen on my camera realized the back lighting kind of killed it. I turned around and took a few more but they were rather un-inspiring so I worked with the first one adding some highlights, increasing the green and lightening the mid range tones. The only thing I couldn't fix without PS is the dang lens flare. Grrr. Some day I'll get the newest version and then I can fix that too. As it stands, meh. Not going to be an award winner but more dramatic than the next one.
Here is the un-inspired shot from the other direction. I tried to remove the brown needle by hand but the rain drops would have been shaken off, thus defeating the point of the shot. In post processing, again, I'd need PS so I will show you the imperfection. I did some strange stuff with the sharpness to get the background that way but when there is a house in the background, it kind of looses the feel I was going for. Again, manual focus and some slight color adjustments were used.
