The baby robins have hatched! The girls think they are incredibly cute but, personally, I think they look a little nasty. Those eyes look like they are dead! Anyway, what you can't see is I think there is one egg in there that hasn't hatched. Whether that means it was a dud or a late bloomer, I don't know.
After taking that shot, I noticed a robin in a nearby tree chirping at me. I figured it may be the mother or father so I grabbed my big lens and took a shot. I realized the lighting was really bad and backlit. I knew my on-camera flash was not up for it so I went in and got my speed flash on it. To my astonishment, the robin was still sitting in the same place when I came back out. I snapped a few off and this was the best of that bunch.
I had seen a blue bird in the front yard a few minutes earlier. I went back out there to see if he was still around. He wasn't but I saw this robin sitting in the neighbors crepe myrtle. He flew away after about 3 shots though. I had to do a little cropping but not much color or lighting adjustments were necessary for either of these last 2.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
