The last time I watched Delaney do anything other than compete in gymnastics she couldn't hold a handstand for more than about 3 seconds and it was pushing it to count it as 3 seconds. Today she started throwing handstands in the street. I dropped my jaw when she was up there for a good 10 seconds with control and a nice tight core. I'm so proud of her!
Macy's birthday is on Thursday. We've been noticing that her bike was getting a little small. She was peddling out all the time and looked rather silly on the little 16" frame.
Today we went over to The Bicycle Chain and traded in the old one for this beauty. There were only 2 colors: pink and green. I thought for certain she'd go with the pink but she surprised us all when she said she liked the green better. I think it was because the grips on the pink bike were white while the grips on the green one were green and she REALLY didn't like the idea of white grips. Strange reasoning but the green is a great vibrant color. Technically, it's the "boys" color but it's not overly masculine and along with the pink water bottle holder and helmet, it is Superior colors.
This puppy has shocks, hand brakes and gears. A change from the solid fork, coaster brakes and single speed she was used to. When Delaney got her first snazzy bike like this it took her weeks to get comfortable with the bells and whistles. Macy on the other hand, picked it up almost immediately and is already experimenting with different gears. She spent all afternoon on it and was talking about it all evening.
The only time Macy wasn't on her new bike was when the group went to the park. I am used to having 4 kids around but Delaney had a friend over and Josh showed up so I was up to 6. They were playing tag in our yard for a while and then asked if they could go to the park so I put Floyd on his leash and off we went. The 6 of them all climbed the wall next to the greenway and I got them all together to get this shot.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
