Delaney and I had a great day together. We started with breakfast at the 'Bou. Then while she had gymnastics, I went for a run. I pulled her out of practice an hour early so we could go home and shower before going to see "Bring It On: The Musical" at DPAC. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I was laughing out loud more times than I can remember. It may not have been the most appropriate thing to bring my 8 year old daughter to see but it's not like she's never heard swear words before and the sexual stuff was subtle enough that it went over her head.
We came back to Cary and had dinner at the Orient Garden. Delaney wanted to dine in so we did. I hadn't dined there in years and I found out that they have smaller more economical portions available on the dine in menu. I had egg drop soup, shrimp in brown sauce and steamed rice for $8.65. They also offer kids sized portions of lo mein. Pretty good value for some of the best Chinese in Cary.
We allowed our stomachs to digest a bit before we headed back out to get the "Bring It On" movie and some Goodberry's. We had another pleasant surprise when we got to the Blockbuster. The original movie was not on the shelf in it's place so we assumed it was checked out. We were bummed but decided to check the stacks of newly returned movies at the front counter. One of the employees saw us and asked if we needed help. I told him what we were looking for and he checked the computer. It was showing as available. With that, he scoured the entire comedy section for almost 10 minutes until he found it for us. These days I don't find, nor expect that kind of customer service from a minimum wage earning high school kid. I was so pleased, I actually wrote to Blockbuster to compliment him. I hope he gets some kind of recognition for that. Good service should be rewarded.
On the way home, we stopped by Goodberry's and got a jumbo chocolate, mint chocolate chip to share. We ate most of it while watching our movie after which, we brushed our teeth and went to bed. Days like this are so great. I hope it's this kind of thing the girls remember in 30 years when they think about their childhood.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
