My only patient for the day cancelled on me so I had some extra time on my hands this afternoon. I went to The Wake Zone for a small iced mocha (skim, 1/2 chocolate, double espresso, no whip) and worked on my billing. Look at me getting ahead for the end of the month!
I came home because I was hungry and it was so beautiful, I wanted to take Floyd for a walk. I brought my camera, as usual, and practiced shooting things in full manual but as I was out there, the sun came out and it got rather warm. I was sweating which is never pleasant and poor Floyd was none too happy about standing around in the heat. None of the pictures I took on the walk were anything to write about but practice never hurts, right? The more one shoots, the better one gets, or at least one would hope.
As I was approaching the house, Floyd was pulling pretty hard because he does NOT like the heat. Even though it wasn't that hot, he wanted to get inside into the AC. However, the garden caught my eye, yet again and I made poor Floyd wait a few more minutes while I crawled around in the flower beds to get a few more shots.
We've been working on our garden out front for years. This time of year, is very exciting out there. We have balloon flowers and fairy snow blooming. The look remarkably similar so maybe they are related. These two are not the same blossom with some kind of post processing trick. It is actually two different plants.
They are in the same bed but due to the shade difference, I used a slightly faster shutter speed on the balloon flower. Both were 100 ISO, 50mm, f 5.6 but 1/160 & 1/125 respectively. Thankfully, both were fast enough that I needn't have worried about shake. I did have to crop them and tweek the lighting just slightly.
Here is one more picture I took today. It's teacher appreciation week at school. Today was "School Supply Thursday" so yesterday I went over to Stones and got each of them gift certificates.
Naturally, I completely forgot to send them in with the girls this morning. Since I had some extra time, I swung by LP to drop them off before going to TWZ. I actually saw Macy's assistant in the office while I was signing in and popped the others in Ms. Maye's mailbox. On my way out, I noticed the car pool cones stacked up in the front hall. They looked like a likely subject so I snapped a few shots and this was the best of the bunch. I had to play with the levels and decrease the saturation just a tad to compensate for the blaze orange which was throwing everything off. I cropped it a little too. (ISO 100, 48mm, f/5.6, 1/60)
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
