Until about 5 years ago, the corner of High House and Davis was a horse farm. Then "progress" took over and a developer bought the land. There was much to-do about the use of the space and there were petitions and websites to protest the fairly sneaky, back-room deals that appeared to have happened. I don't know all the particulars but I know that at one point there was talk of putting in big box stores but now it's supposed to be more of a retirement community. Whatever, that's not the point of this pic.
In honor of the former horse farm, the developers put up a rather nice horse sculpture at the corner of High House and Davis. In the past we have noticed it occasionally gets turned into a unicorn by what we presume is a teenager with some aluminum foil. We've always appreciated that and the girls always look to see in what state the horse is.
Today on my way past, I noticed the bright red eyes. From the distance of the road, I couldn't tell exactly how it had been done so I stopped on my way home and got closer. I was terribly dismayed to see that, unlike the benign foil horn, some thoughtless jerk or jerks actually defaced our favorite piece of sculpture with spray paint. I hope the Cary police are investigating. This is a pity. (48mm, f5.6, 1/50)
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
