For the first time ever, both girls competed at the same meet on the same day. This is the first time they've both been in their uniforms at the same time. Couldn't pass up a photo op outside the gym.
As we were walking in, Leah and her family showed up and I got a shot of the three of them.
The girls did well. Macy got her second trophy for coming 2nd in all around. Every meet does awards differently. Last week only 1st place finishers received trophies, this week it was only the top three in all around. She also took 2nd on floor and vault while getting 3rds on both beam an bars. Not a bad showing and as she put it, if Leah weren't in her age group, she'd be winning everything! Such a good outlook from a 7 year old. Macy's next meet is at High Point with some really good gyms so her coaches have decided to step up to 7 hours a week of practice so they can all get in an extra hour of conditioning on Friday nights. I think it's one of the best ideas they've ever had.
Right off the bat, Delaney had a disastrous beam routine and fell off twice. She came back swinging and got her first ever 9 on floor so finally she can change her ending pose!!! She won vault with a beautiful 9.375 and even had a very clean bar routine. She ended up 2nd on both bars and floor but that stinkin' beam kept her out of the top 3 all around. If she'd only fallen once, she'd have won it but it is what it is. In 2 weeks we travel to Charlotte for a big one at Everest. Everest is the second best team in the state and Southeastern will be there as well so the competition will be stiff. If she can stay on the beam, she can hang with the best of them though.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
