Today, Eyal and I had an opportunity to shoot my good friends. Debra and Buddy are fantastic people and their children, Cutter and Teagan are as adorable as they are sweet. We have been trying to set this shoot up for weeks but the weather was not cooperating. Today wasn't ideal but everyone agreed that it was worth a try. They were great models and very patient as we hunted for good light and backgrounds.
I think this was the final straw for my 70-300mm lens. While these are OK, I'm not happy with the sharpness of it so I've decided to sell it and buy an 85mm prime. If I'm going to do portrait work, I need to have the right tools and the 85mm is "the" portrait lens. Any one out there want a gently used 70-300mm lens? For most people it will be more than sufficient. On a 36MP camera, it's just not cutting it though.
