While Macy was at a birthday party over the weekend, Delaney and Sarah came to me asking for suggestions as to what to do. Very uncharacteristically, I actually gave them an idea. I suggested they put on a puppet show. I even got down the theater for them. (I know you are all shocked to the point of disbelief but it's true, I actually went into Macy's closet to get it down from the top shelf. I even had to use a stool! I was having a good mommy day I guess.)
Anyway, the theater was still hanging in the playroom doorway and it inspired Macy while her sister was at the gym this evening.
I don't think Jim Henson has to worry about her taking over that industry any time soon. Her first attempt was introducing all the characters one at a time about three times over. Then each took turns beating on the others and some would call out to ones that were hidden and get the response, "I'm doing my business." Which of course is hysterical to a seven year old every single time but as an adult, it gets old really quickly. I tried to continue in the good mommy thread but this was more than I could take. I tried to record it but it was boring me to tears! After that debacle, I made a few suggestions to her. 1) come up with a story with a conflict and a solution. 2) since she only has 2 hands, limit the characters to 3 at the most to minimize puppet changing time and 3) practice it before asking anyone to watch it. Her second attempt, while not oscar worthy, was MUCH better. I have it recorded and will post it as soon as I can but for some reason, I can't figure out how to get it off my camera.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
