Delaney asked me the other day if she could have a playdate with Ana. Ana is one of the sweetest kids in the world. We have known the Neffs for about 9 years. Ana and Delaney went to Ms. Terri's together when they were about a year old. Terri Graves was a babysitter who lived just up the street from me. She was the only 5 star in-home daycare in the ZIP code. She only took kids part time and literally was 1/2 mile from the house. I walked Delaney up there many days.
Terri was fantastic but while I was out on maternity leave with Macy, she moved to Florida which is how the girls ended up at Bright Horizons when I went back to work.
Kathleen had Jeroen 11 days after Macy was born and we walked together for much of the summer trying to get our bodies back. It was very nice to have someone to talk to and the girls played so nicely together. They live just across Cary Parkway so it was a great set up.
Laurel Park opened the year Delaney and Ana started kindergarten which was great because before LPES opened, our neighborhoods were actually sent to different schools. Kathleen and I were thrilled to have the girls starting in the same school and even decided to take track 2 together. Later, both of our situations changed and we both decided to change to track 3 after 2nd grade.
All that said, Ana and Delaney have much different personalities and interests but still get along famously so having Ana over is a delight. Today she brought over a bracelet making kit and they were kind enough to include Macy in the craft as well. It was one of those great warm days so they were outside all day.
Some people think it's a hassle to have friends over and have to watch them etc... Honestly, for me, having friends over makes it easier because they entertain each other and actually require less from me. I'm happy to be the house where all the kids hang out!
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
