A few years ago, the girls came rushing in all excited to tell me they found a bird's nest in the bush next to our house. I grabbed my camera and got a few shots of the bird in the nest, I also managed to get a picture of the next with the eggs and then a few pictures of the babies once they hatched.
Last year we had another nest and I was able to get the eggs and babies again but no momma bird.
This year, I saw a friend of mine post a picture on fsacebook of a nest so I asked the girls to go see if they could find one. Sure enough, there was one in the bush again. The momma was sitting there even! I tried to get a picture but the momma flew away. I got this picture but I've been waiting for the momma to return to hopefully get a picture of her on the nest again but haven't been able lucky enough yet. I'm a little concerned that I have scared her away permanently and these babies won't ever hatch. I'd be so sad! I've always wished that wild animals had an instinct for who would hurt them and who was friendly so I could get close to them and pet them.
Today was also Ben's birthday so we went over to Mandy's house to celebrate. His cake was a pile of cupcakes decorated with a variety of candies. As everyone was singing "Happy Birthday" I snapped this picture of his cake with the DOF just enough for he and Delaney to be identifiable but significantly blurry in the background. I really like the effect.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
