After catching Kinky Boots (which I HIGHLY recommend) last night, we slept in a little this morning. Lisa indulged my desire for a real NY bagel since in NC what passes as a bagel is really just round bread. It was remarkably difficult to find one and after a little bit we realized why: it was Saturday and many of the good bagel places are Jewish and thus closed on Saturday. We walked past Central Park and eventually came across one. It did not disappoint.
We took our bagels and fruit salad and found a bench in the park where we sat and ate while watching the world go by.
After breakfast, we headed to the subway for our first underground adventure of the day. Our destination was downtown to see the 9/11 memorial but the signage in the subway is so poor, we ended up going up town. We realized it and got off but the downtown trains weren't running from that point so we had to get back on, go all the way to the Bronx then get back on to go downtown. It took over an hour but it was an adventure.
We got down there and Lisa again demonstrated her extreme patience with me as I waited for the perfect shot. I had to get a little NY with a group of people who were hogging the best spot in the entire square. After they tried to get another picture with yet another camera, I told them, "No, you've had long enough." and elbowed my way in to get the following shots.
We happened along this random piece of art. After some discussion I think we decided it was supposed to be a heart although maybe a balloon animal heart. Who really knows.
We headed back to midtown with only a little bit of confusion on the subway and caught a tour of Rockefeller Center. I had no idea how big it was.
The tour ended at the "Top of the Rock" where we got to get out to take a few more looks at the NYC skyline from on high.
I'm a mother of 2 girls living in NC. I've dabbled in photography on and off but really this is just for fun
